Weekend recap

This post is just a weekend recap so watch out coz it's picture heavy! :D

Friday night, Cindy and I just went out for drinks locally and ended up drinking a bit too much (more Cindy, not so much me hehe) I'm not a heavy drinker so it resulted in a hangover the following day. Not happy!

At a local Korean restaurant that opens til late:

We ordered a whole load of various food which I later puked out. Nice.

Black raspberry wine that Cindy ordered two bottles for just us. It's ultra sweet! Doesn't taste much alcohol (but it was strong for me)

Ended the night by Cindy getting way too tipsy and not able to drive us home. Lucky one of her brother's friend was nice enough to fetch Cindy's car and then drive us. They had to walk back to Chatty after LOL.

Saturday I went with Fi and her man all the way to The Entrance, Central Coast for Winnie's 24th. She celebrated it with two other people that have their birthdays around the same time. I remembered she did the same thing last year where they hired out a beach house for the weekend with a group of friends but that was just in the northern beaches area. This was a good hour or so drive away. It just reminded me that I have a pretty bad case of motion sickness. I don't get motion sickness when I'm the one driving, but I do when I'm the passenger, doesn't matter how bad or good the person is driving either. I've just always had motion sickness even when I was young. That goes the same with boat rides too. I hate it!

I bought a bottle of black raspberry wine for Winnie and some of us to have but they didn't like it too much haha.

They were there since Friday and we didn't get there til late Saturday afternoon. The house they hired had a pool, if I had known I would've brought my bathers for a swim!

Sunday morning (more like lunch time) Jun and I headed out to Davidson Park for his sister's baby shower. It did rain a bit but it wasn't pouring.

There were so many cute babies! I've always thought that baby showers were only for ladies to attend since the ones I've been to in the past were all just ladies, nowadays even the men go. Next thing, women will be able to attend 'bucks night' events :D

I was browsing through one of Donna's magazine and saw that Mimco is having a collaboration with Barbie and released out a collection this month 'Barbie loves Mimco'. Checked out their website and saw these:

I don't find much of it to be like "Wow I gotta have it". But I think the hair accessories and the cuff bracelet are both pretty cute, the price isn't though! Just check out the bag (AUD799.00) yikes! Overpriced much? i wonder how much it cost to make the bag. I reckon Mimco is a pretty big ripoff. When I go to Melbourne this boxing day, I hope I can find a decent bag from their warehouse. Oooh and can't forget Sass & Bide warehouse :D

Out of curiosity, I wanna ask do you get offended in any way when someone mistakes you for another ethnicity? Take note, to me ethnicity are your roots ie my ethnicity is Filipino and nationality is plainly saying your citizenship or where you grew up most of your life ie. Australian.

So far this week, I've encountered it twice the past few days. First time was at work when a patient was having a chat with one other patient, my colleague and myself when (dunno if he was joking, but I hope that was his intention) he said he just found out he was part Iranian (referring to my colleague) and then he turns to look at me and says "And I also found out I'm part ... ummm ... CHINESE!" then laughs, referring to me. Now, him assuming I was Chinese was not what took me back, but the fact that just coz one is of 'Asian' descent does not necessarily mean they are 'just Chinese'. Asian does not equal Chinese!

The second encounter was when I was buying some products at Mr. Vitamins and as I reached the counter and placed my items down, the register woman turned to me and abruptly said "I met you in Thailand!" My reaction was "What?" with a wtf-look. She continues to say that "Yes I'm sure I met you in a Thai resort". I just stare at her blankly until she says "Oh, you just look like this girl I met in Thailand." I replied "I'm Filipino, NOT Thai" and believe me, I did not look pleased. Not pleased at her manners to assume 'where I came from' when I'm merely just a customer buying my items, not sitting down for a cup of tea chatting about where we may have met /roll eyes. I don't care if anyone thinks us South-East Asians all look the same. That is not the case TYVM. Everyone is distinctly unique in their own way!

Maybe I'm coming off as "Don't call me [insert ethnicity here] how dare you!". But yes I felt insulted because one would assume without a doubt or without question where 'I came from'. And another, why would one talk that way to another when they don't know them at all nor anything about them. I usually come to the conclusion that they're not well in the head. I know if I was curious to know what a person's ethnicity is for any reason, then maybe I would ask in an appropriate situation as to not offend that person in any way. But I would not dare assume that for example by looking at a person of East-Asian appearance and think "Oh yeah she's/he's Chinese".

Ignorance plays a part in it. But living in such a diversity of multicultural backgrounds, you'd think maybe people would know better unless they've been living under a rock all their lives...

I'm sure everyone has come across something like this sometime or another so I'd like to know what you think!

If you're a fan of Goji berries, than you'll love dark chocolate covered Gojis! A friend at work introduced them to me by bringing them into work to snack on. I've heard of the Goji hype and how it's supposed to be a good antioxidant for your body. I haven't tried the drinks nor am I interested in how good it's supposed to be for you, but if it's covered in chocolate and tastes good than pass it over :D

They usually sell them at vitamin stores and they're not too cheap. For a bag of 200g or 300g, expect to pay around AUD$12 -AUD$15 for a bag.

My favourite is the dark chocolate one but you can also get them in milk chocolate.

Check this out it's a picture morpher that morphs any profile photo together. You can see what you would look like morphed with a celebrity or what your possible child may look like with your S.O haha. Creepy but it's funny.

Update from lil ol' me

I've been meaning to post but haven't got around to doing it. Nothing too interesting happened last week. So just a short update. I've been in a bad mood since last week because my licence got suspended for a period of 3 months from dec til march which means I won't be able to drive during Christmas, New Years, Jun's birthday and Valentines!! You might be wondering how I lost my licence. It was when I was picking up my mum from the airport in September and got caught doing LESS THAN 10KMS over the speed limit. If that doesn't make sense ... I apparantely was going somewhere between 81-89 KMS when the speed limit is 80. WOW WATCH OUT SPEED DEMON ON THE ROAD ... seriously, offences like these in Australia, especially in NSW are considered almost criminal /GASP.

I did put an appeal for it 2 days after receiving the letter and I'm going to the magistrate in 3 weeks to see if they will allow me to drive. They charge you a fine of 80 bucks and then to appeal, another 80, what do they think this. a charity? I don't give out free money you know?!!#!@#$#$% They say if you pay the fine, you're pretty much admitting that you're guilty. But if you don't ... then they increase it every 2 weeks or month or so until you pay it. So what choice do you have? I also applied for a new job but they haven't phoned me back when to start, but when I do start, I'd need to drive since they are no buses that go in that area. I'm just hoping I get my licence back or atleast let me drive during certain hours for work.

Last week, one of our high school friends Nita came down to Sydney from Indonesia to visit us so a few of us met up with her in the city. So far, 3 of our friends from high school who no longer live in Sydney have come down for a visit. So this boxing day, Fi and Christina have booked our flights to go to Melbourne for a weekend to visit Sangita who's in Melbourne. Looking forward to it!

And last weekend, we were planning on doing something silly for Halloween but that didn't pull through it. Doesn't help that we don't celebrate Halloween in Australia anyway :( We just ended up going to Fi's place in the city for dinner and then to a bar with Christina and her buddy. Here's my FOTD. Some blush and eye make up. I haven't been using foundation at all and just stuck to bronzer and blush or highlighter for everyday but my skin has become so oily. I think it's also because it's alot hotter now since it's summer. I've been using blotting paper like crazy.

I used the Etude House blush in 'Happy Peach'.

All you need is to lightly dab the puff sponge directly onto your cheeks and then blend it out so you don't look like a clown like I did in the first pic below.

Since Etude House is a Korean brand, I think their range was made for more fairer skin tones, but I don't think it looks too bad on me and I'm tanned, once blended in of course. Most of my blushes are more coral shades. But I say, you can never have enough blush :) MOAR BLUSH I SAY! MOAR!!

I've noticed the bags and hollows around and under my eyes have become more noticeable especially in photos. It actually bothers me because I think it makes me look sickly like a junkie and old. I'm currently just using M.A.C's fast response eye cream but I don't think it helps much. I gotta admit I do sleep late and then I over sleep on top of that :( I also received my nail pens from the lovely Nikki. I really wanted them because I had purchased nail pens from Morning Glory and I found them so easy and fun to use but they didn't have all many colors and of course I knew Nikki used them in her nail tutorials so I was happy I was able to get my hands on so many colors. Thank you again Nikki!! Now to have some fun with them :D

I've been watching videos from this Filipino home cook on YT and I think he is wonderful with coming up with such easy but tasty snacks for people that can't cook but try to ie. me. I had a go and made his 'Bread rolls' a few nights ago.

I think it's such a quick and easy as well as tasty for a breakfast snack. All you need are pieces of bread with the crusts removed, strips of ham and cheese, mayo, egg and bread crumbs and you get this ... the cheese and mayo melt and it's crunchy on the outside. It's deep fried so I wouldn't say it's easy on the diet.

I think the guy is a genius for coming up with dishes like these and putting them up on YT for people to try out ie. me. Check out the video. You don't need to understand what he says coz he clearly shows how to do it. It's so easy!

ps. I am going to be so pissed off for the rest of this entire year and maybe even next year if the magistrate does not allow me to drive. Amen.

Update: Eyetex Kajal, haul, weekend

Picture heavy post! I hope this makes up for the infrequent posting. I really don't have that much exciting to talk about. So today I'm gonna talk about eye liner. One in particular called Eyetex kajal. It has absolutely no smell and I've read that it's safe to even put on baby skin (I wouldn't try though).

I ordered this off Smartpoppy early this month (post here) when they had a BOGOF offer and at less than 5 bucks, then why not. When I first tried it, I thought 'woah that's pretty black!' So I've been using it for almost a month now as my everyday eyeliner and I really like it. I was using M.A.C's fluidline in 'blitz n glitz' before that, but there's not much left and then I found out that it's discontinued. So here's a comparison of all the black eyeliners that I currently own. I wanted to compare them between each other. From L-R, M.A.C 'black funk' pencil eyeliner, Eyetex kajal liner, H.I.P gel liner in 'black' and M.A.C's fluidline in 'Blitz n glitz'.

It's pretty obvious that Eyetex kajal pan smudges the most, but I still like it since the consistency is more of a paste than a gel or a cream. It's a little sticky and a little tacky when applying this on your skin with a brush. For me, I find it easier to apply on without making a mess. I usually set this with a matte black eyeshadow and I'm good to go. Plus, at a fraction of the price of M.A.C's fluidline, that's even better! I had a look at their website and found out they're based in India. No surprise there as the women have such beautiful big eyes. It just so happens that we have a local Indian mini mart and I went in to check it out. I showed the store owner one of my eyetex pans and asked if he sold them. Luckily he did and a box full of them too! I asked him how much they were each and I was shocked they were dirt cheap. Much much cheaper than on Smartpoppy so I snagged the whole box lol. I've been giving them to a few friends to try out and they said it's not bad especially for it's price. One of our Nepalese friend Sangita who lives in Melbourne came down sometime last week. She's a beautician and we came to chatting about make up (of course). I showed her the eyetex kajal and she whipped out what she uses which is also from Eyetex (kajal supreme) and gave it to me score! It's in a pen form and says 'non- smudge'. I tested it against M.A.C's greasepaint stick I bought from the Black Style collection to see how it goes. And I gotta say, it's quiet comparable in my opinion. Sangita told me she bought it for around 3 bucks so you gotta compare that with the AUD32.00 you pay for the greasepaint. One thing I don't like about the Kajal supreme is the smell. It has that 'herbal' smell which is a bit off putting. Also, I don't know if Eyetex is readily available in any Indian stores, I just so happened to find it in one across from my work place. Bits and pieces from the past week: The Face Shop was having a closing down sale in the city. Everything was around 30%-70% off. The SA said there will no longer be any The Face Shops in Sydney and another company with a different brand was soon to be opening in its place. Everything in The Face Shop is relatively expensive so even with the discount I still consider it pretty pricey. I only bought 3 items. A blush from Etude House ('Happy Peach') , a peel off pore pack and a pack of nose strips. I do admit, I only bought the blush coz of its' packaging. Etude House always has cute packing. I did try this on my cheeks and it maded me look very flushed. It's quiet bright on the cheeks and as the color name suggested 'Happy Peach', it does make you look a tad too happy with ultra peach cheeks. The other two items I just snagged up since they were the last ones left. Haven't tried them out yet. Both were around 6 bucks after the 30% discount. My M.A.C Dsquared haul. I only bought 4 of the items. The two greasepaint sticks, the sculpt and shape powder in 'Accentuate and Sculpt' (darker shade) and the clear gloss. Only reason why I bought the clear gloss was coz I want to try out the glossy eyelids look. I have tried it with clear lip gloss but it's a tad too sticky for my liking and it doesn't last as long as the clear gloss. I already had the lip erase in 'Dim' and if I had known it was coming out in the Dsquared collection, I would've waited! Yes for the LE packaging haha. And lastly I bought this bright fluoro pink nail polish from chemist warehouse. They had a bin of them but didn't have many left. They were AUD2.50 each or 2 for AUD4.00. They're in the same type of bottle as O.P.I. They're pretty good, but without a good top base and top coat, it peels off easily. Nice bright color though :) And just a few photos from my weekend. Friday night was unplanned. Just a few bored friends who went out to town for some karaoke. But we found that sometimes nights out unplanned, leads to walking around in painful heels scouring it other things to do haha. New storage and Palgantong Theatrical powder

I didn't realise it's been about a week since I last posted. I haven't been extremely busy .. just not motivated I guess. Anyway, this post is long due. I was just waiting for my Sasa order. I'd been waiting about 3 weeks for it. They're not usually this late, which lead me to think them customs people are dipping their dirty fingers into my products! Ok paranoia aside .. but I bet they do. Beside the usual make up removers, I bought the Palgantong theatrical powder in the clear version to try out.

I was browsing through Sasa and found they stocked the brand. Donna recommended using this and since it's not overly expensive, I decided to try it. I don't have any finishing powders aside from M.A.C's msf in medium dark I use over my foundation. I already have the MUFE HD powder but I'm not having much luck with it. I dunno how to apply it on properly without looking like I've dived into a bowl of flour. The puff applicator that comes with it isn't doing too bad of a job, so I might try it with the MUFE powder. I ordered the clear/original 10mg for around AUD8.00. Blush in market city sells it for 20 bucks! What a rip off. I haven't tried it out on my face yet. Will post how I go in the next few days. And my mum bought me a new organiser to store all my make up and some of my skincare junk. If you wanna see how I organised it before, click this link here. This way it's all in one place and I won't have to run around to each corner of my room to grab what I need. I'm currently in the process of reorganizing my room to accommodate more space.

It's where I keep all my make up, fragrances and face-care products. Everything else ie. body skincare and hair products are stored in my crammed bathroom cabinet. I was planning to go the annual Filipino Fiesta last weekend with Christina (Sunday) but didn't end up going. I stayed over Jun's place since his dad was cleaning my car's engine and then he made me and Jun clean the whole car after :( haha. We didn't end up finishing til late arvo like at 4pm. The show closed at 8pm so it was way too late and too far even from Jun's place, let alone from my place. I haven't been in 3 years so I thought it would've been a good idea to go. I miss Filipino food so we were wanting to go for lunch. Oh well. One thing I'm not happy with is the fact that they charge you for entrance fee (AUD$20!!) All the other cultural festivals I've been to didn't charge you just for walking around and watching the shows (Bunch of money-grubbers them organisers are). Friday night, we had a girl's night out just coz we haven't been out in goodness knows how long. We don't even remember the last time we had a night out and when we do go out, it's planned weeks ahead. Age has caught up O.O We tried out this new nightclub called 'Flow' at Equilibrium. We heard it was more of a mature and mixed crowd ... but we found it was just like all the other clubs we've been to when we were 18 y.os. 20 bucks entrance is ridunkolous if you ask me. What happened to free entry for the ladies? Plus, there was a very unhealthy looking MC who was stuffing his face with cake and he refused to share some with anybody! LOL. It was full of drunk dirty perverts and drunk girls in the toilets. We found one who had passed out in one of the cubicles. Vomit everywhere .. One boy puked right next to Christina and me. How lovely. I didn't post up my FOTD but I think I have found how to do eyeshadow for my lids. Nothing too exciting but I was happy with the way it turned out without looking like a tranny. Will post it another time. A few pics from my camera last Friday night: We had fun nonetheless. We don't go out often so it was a good change. Will be back soon with another post hopefully in the next few days or even sooner! xo

I came across this on YT on mychonny's channel. That dude is hilarious.

Let me tell a story that happened years ago, since this reminded me of this rude bogan woman on a bus my mum and I came across who was hogging a 2 seater (supposed to be vacant for less mobile passengers). The bus was full and she and wouldn't let this elderly Asian man sit down. Then she continously started yelling racist insults towards Asians in general saying to get out of HER country etc. When it came to our stop, mum and I were standing infront of her as we waited to get off our stop and she kicked our shopping bags for no reason. Then when we looked at her, she said to us 'WTF are you looking at?' LOL how rude. My mum lunged out and grabbed her by the neck LOL. No one did anything coz it was obvious she was getting on everyone's nerve including the bus driver who told her to get off the bus if she didn't behave herself.

Hmmm ... come to think of it, it wasn't funny at the time. But after it was.

I've come across racism since I was in primary school which I haven't forgotten and it just proves that many people will never change.

/wave Hi! how was your week? Mine wasn't very productive. Had work all long weekend so yay for that. Hey how come it's cold and raining in spring?! I was expecting blossoming flowers and butterflies fluttering about :P but check out my strawberries I bought from the markets a week ago. They go for 4 bucks or 12 bucks for 4 pots. I already ate 2 of the ripe ones. Yum-o! They are just so cute sitting on my kitchen window sill :)

And even though it's nearing Summer, all the winter stock is on sale, so what better time to stock up on winter gear for next year :P ! I bought 2 pairs of calve-length boots. First pair is from Hype. I saw them ages ago but couldn't justify paying AUD250.00 for them. So when I saw them on sale for AUD100.00 I was so happy! They didn't have any left in my size but lucky they had one in Manly. Couldn't be bothered going all the way there for them, so they brought them in for me 2 days later :) Second pair is what I call 'combat boots'. I actually liked the brown version but figured black would be more versatile (and there weren't any left of the brown in my size anyway). They cost AUD69.00.

I honestly think the platform heels that are currently out are outrageously too too high and I don't think it's coz I'm getting old .. they really are waaaay too high! I just imagine myself stacking it and breaking my legs when oogling over a sexy pair of heels /sigh ... So yes, I'd likely stick to boots even in the summer if I'm going out at night. They just feel. Safer :) I wanted these pair of Siren drift boots when I saw them in Wanted in Winter but they were AUD270. I saw them about 2 months ago (before I went to the Phils) at Wanted in DFO and they were only AUD60 bucks so I tried them on and they were so uncomfortable I was scared to walk around with them on! They are just way too steep and I was disappointed coz they are just soo sexy. Jun convinced me not to buy them which was a good thing but now I'm thinking I want them again haha.

A few more pieces of clothing haul from the past week. You can seriously get some cheap and chic clothes from SES - like the shirt with the suspenders was too cute to pass. If you can see, there's a nerdy looking girl with glasses on them printed on the shirt. My friend Sylvia got them in the gray. The native-indian looking dress I saw when I was in Rouse Hill 2 weeks ago but didn't end up getting it coz it was full price. I saw them again on sale but unfortunately they didn't have any left of the size 8 so I ended up getting it in size 10 which still fits fine. Looking forward to wearing out for summer. Come on sun where are you?! The pair of jeans from Converse were a complete bargain. They're stretch jeans and aren't long in length so they're perfect for my stouty legs. Cost me 20 bucks at Paul's Warehouse. They have heaps of sales. Going back there this weekend to pick up some more buys for Jun who wants some shoes. They're all deducted and BOGOF! Even though I'm not a big fan of the one- shoulder type dresses and tops, I bought the dress solely because of the patterns on it. So cute for the beach!

My M.A.C black style haul. I didn't get any cosmetic purchase except for the greasestick which I was keen to try out coz I heard they're budge-proof and waterproof versions of the shadesticks and they didn't fail! I got two of each of the thermal mask and the exfoliator for back up. These seriously should be permanent since they're skincare products..

I am loving Bourjois products, especially when they are on sale left right and center! I think they are amazing products for a drugstore brand. I finally had the chance to try out the foundation for a day's wear. Here I'm using Bourjois brush foundation in 35 'Abricote'. It is actually slightly a shade darker than my skin tone but it works out fine since my face is lighter than my body. I just need to blend it down to my neck and perfect :) oh and excuse the hideous uniform =X

I bought this to try so I snatched it when I saw it on sale in Target. It's called 'complexion enhancer' also by Bourjois and comes in a compact 20ml tube. I've only seen it in one shade 'Apricot' so I don't know what it's supposed to do exactly cept to enhance your skin..? haha It sounds promising! I'm thinking it's a primer or a tinted cream you use for light coverage? but I'll try it out sometime on my face. I'm slowly going through my pile of junk trying each of them out so bare with me. I've only swatched it on the back of my hand at the store. It comes out a rose-peach color from the tube and is very sheer and very lightly tinted (almost no color at all) once blended into the skin.

They currently stock them in Priceline and in Target. So if you happen to see some on sale, be sure to try them out! They have some amazing products. One thing I'm not particular keen on is the smell. I have a few of the Bourjois powder products and they all have that strong rose scent that gets me kinda dizzy =S or maybe it's just me...

Speaking of Target, Ira told me that Target now stocks Yu-be cream for AUD11.00. Mecca just down the road sells it for a hefty AUD25.00! So off I went to take a look, I've been using it on my lashes to test if they really do make them grow. So we'll see.

I'm not a big fan of its' scent though. Reminds of Dencorub or some herbal cream you rub on yourself haha.

And last week, I was reading through the newspaper and came across this:

They're called Mycurl which you twist and wrap your hair around and clamp down with your straightener to achieve waves and curls. It comes in a pack of 6 and costs AUD89.00. I'm tempted to buy it but I saw this girl on YT and she uses a paper method, very much the same way you use these things. I dunno .. I've watched the demo videos on their website and it just looks fun to try. Are they worth it?

Update: iphone, skin, 'Magic Peeling glove'

A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!!! My desktop computer was down for a few days and I just got it back, resulting in buying a new video card. My old one that I've had for about 3-4 years was totally fried. I was planning on getting it upgraded anyway from the 6600 to the 9900 but settled with the 9500. Now playing WoW and Sims 3 is even more fun! The guy at Arc computers ended being an ex-WoW player and we chatted for over an hour about it haha.

And I ended up cancelling my liptars order :( It has been almost 3 weeks since I placed a back order for 3 liptars at IMATS and they still haven't arrived yet. I did get 2 phone calls last week. First was beginning of the week and the lady said I'd receive them Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Waited Thursday and received another call from a girl called Rachel and she informs me that they are supposed to come in Thursday instead, and that I would get them the following week. Come Tuesday and still nothing. I called them up and they say they have just left NY and they may arrive in 6-10 days but she's not sure. Mt friend Donna got hers within days of ordering and she just lives next door to me, we ordered the same colors and at the same time so I don't understand why I haven't got mine and Fi hasn't received hers either. What I don't get though is why they have stock up on their website. Oh well.

Good news is, I received my iphone last Tuesday and I love it! Still a noob at it though finding myself staring at the screen trying to figure out what to do :P But it is great :)

And I couldn't help blinging it up already! :P

Since the blitz n glitz fluidline is discontinued (didn't know it was LE) I bought this kohl eyeliner called EYETEX off Smartpoppy. It's the first time I've ordered from them and I'm impressed! They send your order super fast (I think I ordered mine on a Thursday and I got it Monday) and they pack it in a white gift box with a few extra lollies :). So I've been using it for over a week now and I'm really liking. They had a buy 1 get 1 free deal so I was able to score 2 of them even though I know 1 will last me ages. It goes on creamy which is good, but it stains easily if you get it on your hands. I use a matte black eyeshadow to set it for during the day. Only other thing I don't like is, the packaging. It's in a small plastic cap and doesn't twist so the lid can easily come off.

I wanted to share an amazing product that I bought at a pharmacy and have been using for almost 2 weeks now.

It's an exfoliating glove called 'Magic peeling glove'. It's a simple glove you use to rub on your body and even on your face to rid of dead skin. At first when I tried it, I used it on dry skin and it just made my skin red and I was about to give up. But after reading the instructions and watching the demonstration videos on YT, found out you gotta wet it first, then squeeze out the excess water (dunno if this is supposed to 'activate' it) and then I rubbed it on my arms again. NOTHING. What I found was best to use it in the shower on wet skin. It quickly removed heaps of dead skin. This is the same effect as when you rub your skin with your fingers and excess dead skin just rolls off but you don't need to rigorously rub and it's a faster way.

I think the reason why it worked better imo was because skin becomes softer in the shower and pores are open allowing easier removal of clogged skin. Yeah... I think that's it haha I didn't know how dirty my upper body was. The dead skin just rolled off gross. I think it's quiet expensive just for a glove at AUD39.95. Some places sell it for 50 bucks. I got mine from Roy Young chemist. But it really does work.

Pros:

- eliminates dead skin cells gently leaving

- no need for extra products ie. creams, lotions for this to work

- re-usable (says around 50 uses, but if you take good care of it, you can use it for longer)

- natural - doesn't irritate your skin

- easy to use

- When used dry, can be used to prevent ingrown hairs

More cons from the packaging:

- Revitalizes stretch marks and acne scars

- prepares the skin for a perfect depilation by promoting the exposure of ingrown hair

- helps to prevent and clear up the small dark spots from the chest, face and hands that can be caused from exposure to the sun.

Cons:

- expensive for a 'glove'

- only 1 in the pack

- if you want to use it on your face and on your body, ideal to buy 2 for separate uses.

- doesn't work on dry skin if you're removing dead skin, best when used in the shower or just wet.

I really do love this product because as you may know, I have KP which is excess dry skin all over my arms, legs and even behind! and using this, greatly helps rid of those bumps or 'chicken dots' without irritating.

***EDIT*** was able to take photos to show that it really does work. First photo shows dead skin on the glove and in the second and third photos are of my arm. It works so amazingly well with my KP allowing my skin to absorb my KP cream more easier. KP sufferers, I suggest this!

I used the MUFE HD foundation in 123 for a day's wear sometime last week and I'm impressed :) I was afraid the color would be too light but it matches me. I haven't tried the MUFE HD powder again coz it's messy! I dunno if I'm using the right type of brush for it (I'm using a Royal soft kabuki brush I bought from IMATS).

I had a bad skin week last few days. My face has a few red blotches on my forehead and cheeks and I suddenly broke out with small black/white heads esp. on my nose which are still there plus I made worse by picking. BAD!

I tried out a face mask called 'MUDD'. This product has been around for aaaages on pharmacy shelves but this is the first time I've tried it. I now prefer it to Lush's cupcake face mask which only lasts a week or so before it expires. Least with this, I don't have to use it all at once or finish it within 2 weeks.

My arm after a week and a bit of using the Kenassy hair removal sponge. My arms are pretty dark now so the hairs aren't as noticeable. I actually expected the hairs to grow back the next day and even thicker but it's slowly growing back and it's not any thicker (which is a good sign). I haven't used it again.

It works out to be pretty much the same as getting the phone outright (outright price from the Apple store is AUD1040.00) and I'll be paying AUD1080.00 over 2 years. I'm getting it delivered to my house Tuesday since I have the day off. I'm getting the 3GS 32GB white! I cannot wait, I've already bought a case for it :D It's always exciting getting new gadgets aint it?!

Holiday recap Part. III

I just wanted to recap my days in Manila since I had a few more pics to post up before I head off to lunch in the northern beaches with my mum, aunt and Jun. The last day we were in The Phils, the Jabawokees were performing infront of Glorietta. Jun and I were staying in The Intercontinental which is just across from it for the last 2 nights since Donna and Paolo left for Singapore a day before us. We were upstairs in the club lounge and we noticed the big crowd gathering up. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to watch them perform because our flight was at 8.30pm and we had to be in the airport 6.30pm so we had to leave Makati at 5.30pm and they were performing at 6pm. One of the waiters there told me that the Jabawokees were staying in the same hotel as us. And then I remembered when we were having breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, we saw a group of 'gangster-wannabe' looking teenagers with sunnies ... indoors lols .. and since the jabawokees don't show their faces when they perform coz they wear them masks, we had no clue it was them. We just thought they were trying to look too hard wearing sunnies indoors. Funny coz last time when we were in The Phils, on our last day, Babyface was performing in the Shangrila hotel! It always has to be on our last days booo.

I found out from friends that they had a tour in Sydney last August 29th!

Our room in Intercontinental. Stayed there for our 2 last nights in The Phils. On our previous trip, we stayed here for 10 nights. Oh how I miss the daily buffet breakfast.

View from our room. That's one of the Glorietta shopping centres. They have a chain of 5! Crazy filos and they're shopping centres. Ryan was telling us how people go to the shopping malls to go 'malling', where they just walk around or loiter in the shopping centres for the whole day without buying anything just to remain in the air conditioned buildings since not everyone has air conditioning in their homes. I would love to live in The Phils for the cheap food and fresh fruit if it weren't for the humid weathers. I cannot stand humidity so I don't blame them.

It was Donna's 27th birthday the day we arrived in Manila from Bacolod so we celebrated it by going out the following weekend (Saturday) to The Fort. We were planning on going to Embassy nightclub but they were closed down due to someone being stabbed apparently so it's good they were closed. We ended up at this bar called Mint (?). Sat there for the whole night drinking.

We met up with our friend Marco on the same day we got back from Boracay. He now resides in Manila for work but used to live in Sydney before that so he comes and visits the Revibe guys and the group whenever he's in Sydney. Thought we'd pay him a visit since we were in Manila. This was in a bar called Absinth in Greenbelt 3 or 4 .. lol I dunno which one.

Jun was so drunk (if his face doesn't obviously show it ..) by this time this photo was taken. Him and Marco had ordered a whole bottle of Tanduay and finished it all! I sat there for the whole night drinking water cos I still had a tummy bug from our Boracay trip. Oh how fun ..

They were like BFFs by the end of the night putting their arms around each other while walking, it was creeping me out. Funny what alcohol does to you.

Halo halo and crispy kang-kong from Mag Inasal restaurant. Their kang kong is a must try!

Fried 'tenga' (pig's ear) odd but tasty:

Green mango I ordered as a side dish for dinner hehe. Gotta love green mangoes.

This is a baby sized filipino rice cooker. I so wanted to take it home I even asked the waiter if I could buy it but no luck. I had a look in the SM supermarkets but they didn't sell em. My best bet would be the Filipino markets.

There was this restaurant in Glorietta 5 (I think) called La Mesa where they specialise in Filipino cuisine. I had a look through their menu and saw they served suckling pig in 2 courses so yes we had to try it!

We were going to order 1/4 but the waitress said 1/6th would be plenty for us both. We were so hungry and thought it wouldn't be enough but it was! We didn't even go through the second course. Well, only coz we ordered other dishes along with it.

They serve it similar to peking duck where they separate the skin for the first course and wrap it up in some sort of pancake. They wrapped up the suckling pig skin in pandan crepes. I'm sure that's the little piggie's tail sticking out!

It was yum but I'd have to say that peking duck still remains more tastier.

The second course of the suckling pig cooked in garlic. This was tasty but we didn't have any room in our tummy left so we didn't finish it.

We ordered this chicken 'tinola' soup which was served in a coconut shell and had slivers of coconut flesh in it, it was so tasty! I may one day try making my own, it was that good.

There are way too many food places to visit in The Philippines and I'm hoping to savor them all someday :)

That pretty much sums up my whole trip. It was a short 3 week holiday and I have yet to visit the rest of the Philippines. Looking forward to it .. then there's the rest of the world to see!

Kenassy Hair removal sponge

I got around to trying out the Kenassy hair removal sponge Donna got me from Sasa in Singapore. I saw this on Xiaxue's YT video on weird stuff. Anything on hair removal and that will work, I am all up for so of course I had to try it.

I wasn't completely counting on it because I do have quiet coarse hair on my arm. I do admit that I did shave my arm hair off when I was in primary school. But I have been quiet hairy all my life /ahem. Helloooo caterpillar brows!

There are two sides to the sponge. The (pink) hair removal side and the (orange) side which I'm not 100% sure what it does. It just says 'sleek skin' so I'm going to call it the 'skin smoothing side'.

See how hairy my arms are!! This was about 2 mins into rubbing it. I didn't 'scrub' it in hard like the instructions says cos I'm afraid it'll leave that burn feeling on my skin. I remember I used a similar product during high school called Silkymit which did leave that itchy, stinging feeling. It was pretty much like sandpapering your skin! Not good ...

So you can see that it does work. BUT .. it's a bit tedious depending how hairy you are and how thick the hairs are. It doesn't remove the entire hair from the roots, only from the top of your skin of course so I would rather wax or even bleach my arm hairs. This is just a much less painful way of removing hair and it's not messy as opposed to waxing etc.

Overall, I think this is good way of removing hair for maybe small patches of unwanted thin hair you just want removed. I don't think this would do any good on my legs because they're much coarser and plus I epilate my legs anyway. It would just be ideal on small hairs on your fingers, toes etc. Haven't tried it on my face ie. upper lip. But it does say this sponge is only for use on arms and legs so I'm gonna stick to waxing and tweezing facial hairs. I hope this has helped in anyway if anyone is curious in trying it out.

I went to the doctors yesterday and I have laryngitis again. I think it might've been from the weather change when I got back from The Phils most likely since I got it only a day after being back. I'm taking medication for it so I'm hoping it goes away by the end of the week. Everyone's saying how they like that croaky raspy voice, but they don't know how uncomfortable and painful a swollen sore throat and having to cough non stop ... and having chunky colored phlegm coming up every few minutes feels. Descriptive.

This post will be dedicated to my hauls in the past few weeks and days. I've been updating this post with my spending but everyday, I keep adding to it coz I've been spending like crazy, it's bad! Once I start working full time, I'm hoping I won't have time to spend and I can save that way. Sounds like a plan.

Donna and I went to IMATS at the convention centre in Darling Harbour. Fifi came with us on the second day on Sunday. The show started at 8.30am but we didn't get there til 10am. Sunday, they opened at 10am. A few pics from the exhibition:

My IMATS haul. Didn't go overboard on the buying but it did total up to quiet a bit! Alot of things I was after wasn't available.

I bought 5 of the OCC liptars ... yes I know I'm not one to wear lip colour. After reading and seeing so many reviews and swatches of them on blogger pages, it's convinced me that I had to have atleast some of the colors. They are just so pretty and crazy pigmented! I got 'Grandma' and 'Anime'. Grandma because it's a versatile color. Anime .. well it was the last one and it just stood out. Adding neutral colors could make it wearable for everyday :P Getting around to actually using it, not too sure haha. I back ordered 3 other colors to go with the 2 I bought. So they should be in the mail in the next coming week and I can play with them. I only got colors that I thought I would actually wear if I did wanna wear lip color. I got 'Feathered' which is the white, 'Beige' and 'Conquest' a pale pinkish/beige/peach to soften them. I mixed the beige and the white together and I think this will be a good way to try to achieve that pale lip color to match my skintone. If I end up liking them, I may order more. For aussies, you can order them on the Make up and Glow website. They cost AUD18.00 on the online store and they're AUD15.00 each at the show.

They had Make up Forever and I got an HD foundation in shade 123. I tried it on my face and then put the HD powder on top with a kabuki brush but it just seemed to fly all over the place!

I only have L'egere's bb cream and one of M.A.C's liquid foundation and I'm not too fond of M.A.C's foundations tbh, well atleast the one that I bought. The shade is O.K but the smell of it on my face bothers me a bit. The only other liquid foundation I use is L'egere's BB cream in the pink box but I find it only gives a light to meduim coverage so I was looking for a more heavier coverage.

I didn't know which shade to start with so the mua helped me with the color. I was trying them on the back of my hand which didn't help much. I tried 3 different shades. First was 150 which was too dark, then I think we tried 140-something but settled with 123. Will take a photo of when I use it. I've just come back from a tropical holiday so I dunno if this shade will suit my skin color later on. But summer IS coming up :D

They look so different in the bottle to how they look on your skin. I find when you apply them on at first, they look too light so you gotta blend it in. Cost AUD60.00 at the show. AUD75.00 on their online store.

I also got the MUFE HD powder for AUD44.00. I was close to buying M.A.C's version but lucky I didn't. They're apparently very similar if not the same.

And lastly, just some brushes from Royal & Langnickel. I bought one stippling brush (AUD10.00), bent eyeliner (AUD4.00), bronzer brush (AUD7.50), metal lash comb (AUD4.50) and a flat smudger (AUD8.00). And a palette w/ cover to store my liptar mixes for AUD2.00.

I've only tried the bronzer brush and now I'm thinking I should've bought another one or three. It is so good for applying bronzer. Doesn't give any harsh lines and blends it in well.

The second day of IMATS, I didn't really see anything else I wanted. Just went coz I had already paid for the 2-day ticket and Fi wanted to come. She ended up buying a MUFE HD foundation and powder too and some brushes for her and her sister. Royal didn't have any of the AUD12.00 travel brush set left so I ended up buying a brush set from E. Funkhouser. Never tried any of their products before nor have I heard of them.

I was actually eying their make up bag on the first day but they were AUD50.00 so lucky I waited coz they priced them down to only AUD25.00. Lipglosses and mascaras were only AUD5.00 from AUD25.00 so I bought a purple-colored mascara to try. I don't think I own any colored mascara and in the M.A.C seminar, the mua was saying that colored mascaras make your lashes look longer when applied to the tips so yes I am going to try that!

Thats all I got. I was hoping they had Parian Spirit that Nessasarymakeup reviewed on her blog. They said it would be difficult to ship it because it's chemical :(

I also found an aussie based website that sells Talika products since Adorebeauty no longer stocks them. Smiink stocks Talika's lash conditioning eye make up remover but for AUD36.00. I remember I bought mine for AUD12.00 but that was on clearance at Roy Young's years ago :( You can also check Talika.com.au.

Later on Saturday evening, Fifi and Budi came over for dinner. We had our own mini bbq on my balcony.

The next morning, woke up early and drove to the airport to pick up my mum. She didn't manage to get her polvoron through boooo. Lucky I got 2 packs in hehe.

Sunday night, Sylvia and I went to the Flo Rida concert in The Metro. This was the first time I had ever been to Metro. I like how small the venue is and how it's designed but there are no seats so we pretty much were on our feet for around 3 hours. Not fun and I was whinging like a bitch.

Then Flo Rida brought up all these random girls from the crowd and made them dance to 'Get Low' while he sang. He was teasing the crowd about giving away some of his bling but he didn't .. err. All he gave out were dirty towels he had wiped all over his sweaty chest lol gross.

Annie just came back from Japan about the same time I came back from the Phils and she brought home some circle lenses. But these are from Acuvue not the Geo lenses. I tried them on ... for about a few mins and the lens in my left eye kept moving around it was annoying.

I took a photo of what it looks like compared to how my eyes are normally and they just seem to make your eyes look brighter. I dunno but they feel as though it makes me want to open my eyes wider too lol weird. They are fun but uncomfortable, for me atleast. These are only 1 day so I chucked them out after trying them on =S I have another pair though.

This is one thing I don't like about my Olympus tough digicam, it reflects back all the shine and oil on my face and highlights it on top of it :/

Now I wanna see what the Geo lenses look like on me :P

Went to Kmart Monday afternoon after going to the doctors. They had clearance baskets with Mixed cosmetics for only AUD5.00 as well as buy 2 get one free on top of it! I found these Bourjois liquid foundations with brush applicators in the pile and wanted to try them. No testers cos they were all sealed but at less than 5 bucks for one (original price AUD16.00) then why not! Plus the brush applicator is fun and convenient for travel. I got 3 colors in 31. beige clair, 33. beige naturel and in 35. abricote. The consistency of these are smooth and easy to blend into the skin. Still have yet to try it on my face for a day's wear .. I have way too many products to try out still stashed in my pile :(

I've only tried them on the back of my hand and not on my face yet and they all look too light for my skin. so I think I'll go back there soon to check out the rest of the colors if they have any left.

Went to the Lush store to look for Godiva solid shampoo but they have sold out!! Now I gotta run around for it. They had also sold out in The Philippines. The SA said they had discontinued the item in the whole country. Lush has a few new products, the SA gave me a sample of their new scrub cleanser called 'Dark Angel' for oily skin. I don't have oily skin as much these days, but I just wanted to try it, maybe on one of them hotter days since summer is coming up and using sunscreen tends to make my skin oily :P It's used the same way as the 'Angels on bare skin' but it gets pretty messy in the sink since it's black.

Also, I have now been converted to Cream Silk shampoo and conditioners. Seriously, no wonder Filipino girls in the Philippines have shiny straight hair hehe. I bet Cream Silk is their secret. Makes my hair soft, shiny and straight :D too bad the Filipino shop near my place doesn't stock the shampoo, only the conditioners. The store owner said that her supplier told her the shampoo version of Cream Silk was Sunsilk ... whatta noob. Why stock Sunsilk when there's Sunsilk in Australia already?! So I told her that I had just come back from The Phils and they do indeed have Cream Silk shampoo. Sunsilk is a completely different brand ... I told her to order them in ASAP!

I've been looking for my ideal leather bag for a while now and I finally found it! Jun bought it for me from Marc's for AUD299.00. I was eyeing Mimco's brown leather bag for AUD399.00 but I may just have to wait for it to go on sale.

I was in Terry White's chemist today to get more of my prescription cream and they had a buy 2 get 1 free offer with all Prestige cosmetics so I took this opportunity to get all the msfs they had. They're AUD29.95 each so it cost AUD60.00 for all 3. They're quiet pigmented and shimmery which is nice for summer .. even though it's only Spring now :)

Was browsing in their aisles and I was surprised they had Moogoo products! I absolutely love their soaps. They're great for KP coz it smooths as well as soothes my skin. It has oatmeal that helps with exfoliation also. It's an ideal soap for KP because it doesn't give you that 'tighten' feel on your skin after you wash. Instead, leaving it moisturised.

Now I'm glad they are readily available to me instead of ordering them online. Moogoo Oatmeal & honey soap AUD7.00: Also bought their edible lipbalms in 'Cow Lick' flavour and 'Tingling Honey'. Mmmm ... they're also edible. All their products have the milk bottle candy smell which is yum!

Another Sim type of game I bought on the weekend for AUD23.00 at EB games. I have been eyeing this game for a while but didn't wanna pay 80 bucks for it =/ Still have yet to play it!

Now for my Philippines haul. I'm not going to list everything, just ones that I was real happy with. I was going to do this in a seperate earlier post but I'd probably be just delaying everything so gonna mush everything in one post.

I'd have to say, I didn't really buy much. I did tell myself to not buy too much skincare, body products coz I didn't want to go over with my luggage (infact, I did by 7kgs but the counter lady was nice enough not to charge us). I didn't buy that many things, but when I got home and laid everything out, it looked like I bought alot more. They're just alot of small things.

This is the blouse I mentioned before that I bought from Topshop in Manila. It cost Php2795.00 (AUD70.00). I'm really liking the embroidery detail. Looks nice with just shorts or even with high-waisted pants tucked in.

Donna bought me the Kenassy hair removal sponge from Singapore. Haven't tried it out just yet. But yes, I finally got it! Thanks Donna xoxoxo and Xiaxue for introducing it lol.

I was so stoked Rustan's stocked my favourite perfume and even so that they stocked the 100mL of it. It's called Les parfum de Rosine and they're only sold in Mecca Cosmetica in Australia, least that's the only place I've seen it at. Mecca only sells the 50mL for a whopping AUD150.00! So when Donna pointed it out that they sell the 100mL for only Php5,450.00 (about AUD130.00), I didn't think twice! I still have about 1/4 left of my 50mL so I hope my new bottle will last me til I go back there in a year and a bit and I'm going to stock up on these. Best purchase of my holiday.

They operate from 8am until 1pm every Saturday and they also operate on Sundays but in the Legaspi Village (I think). Worth visiting if you're in Makati. Went to Boracay on Monday 31st of August for 3 nights. Donna and Paolo didn't end up coming with us to Boracay which was disappointing but Jun and I enjoyed our little visit despite the hassle with organising the accomodation with Regency Boracay (pain the arse!) and being sick. Well the last 2 nights of Boracay I got ill. It was after a seafood buffet by the beach that I got a tummy bug that did not go for 3 whole days. It was not fun and it was the worst tummy bug I have ever had in my life so far. Still decided to go ahead with island hopping the day after from 10am-4pm. It rained for more than half the day and I didn't/could not eat anything for the whole day coz nothing would stay in my stomach. Got back to our hotel room and went to bed straight away. Woke up with a fever so Jun went to get some paracetamol whilst I ordered some aroz caldo(filipino congee) and a fruit platter to the room so I could have a nibble. Dozed off for 2 hours before waking up and vomiting everything I had consumed. I have yet to go to the doctors either. When I'm sick like that, all I want to do is just crawl into my own bed at home. When we got back to Manila, I continued to have the tummy bug, still wasn't able to eat. Lost my appetite but atleast my *ahem* was becoming solid as opposed to just all liquid (lol too much information). I was afraid I had something severe coz it just wouldn't go away. I took imodium which gave some temporary relief, but for some reason, that in turn gave me bad gas up until I got home. I would take buscopan for cramps, imodium to relieve diarrhoea, then I'd take a de-gas generic brand to get rid of the wind. My digestive system really took a beating :( That's what I get for being greedy I spose'. Anyway, I don't think anything that comes by my blog would appreciate reading about my toilet troubles so I'll move onto something less disturbing. On Mt Luho (I think) highest point in Boracay. You can pretty much see everything from where we are. We were lucky it was a bright and sunny day.

We ended up flying Seair coz they were the only airline allowed to fly to Caticlan airport. The flight tickets were pretty cheap. We paid around php4,000 return per person which is around AUD110.00. Looking forward to coming back to Boracay again for our third time! Jun just can't get enough of snorkelling the dork.

Holiday recap Part. I

What have I been upto? Caught up with a few of my girlfriends last night for some grub and a drink and tonight, I'm staying in to rest. Will be going to IMATS in Darling Harbour tommorow morning with Donna so I'm looking forward to that .. despite horrible laryngitis that I've managed to get in the past few days so I don't have a voice. Gosh where do I start?! I think I will be splitting my holiday recap into sections. It was only 3 weeks, but I tried to make the most out of it and that's all that matters. Will be back there again in another 2 years for a friend's wedding. We got back Monday 7th September in the morning. No rest. I would blame flying PAL(Philippines Airlines) for that and I'd say this was the last time I would be flying with them EVER. That's all I'm saying. The first 11 days we spent in Bacolod preparing for my mum's birthday. Just a few shots from the night. It was mostly family members and family friends that were invited. The day after, my family and I went to Mambukal - a resort just outside of Bacolod. Jun and I went to visit their butterfly garden, it was really magical! They had hundreds of butterflies inside the little canopy. One large one managed to land on my hand and on Juns forehead!

The day after Mambukal, we were off to Manila, stayed with Donna and Paolo in Paolo's uncle's apartment in Makati. Stayed there for about a week, 3 nights were spent in Boracay the second week. Photos from the first 2 nights in Manila. Had dinner in California pizza kitchen - reminded me of GPK in Australia. Had their chicken adobo pizza but their avocado and chicken roll entree was the favourite of the night. Yum! The next day we met up with Dav's bf Ryan who was in Philippines for 2 weeks for work - training up workers. Had dinner at Bubba Gump's. Ordered a shitload of shrimps yumm. I dunno why we don't have Bubba Gumps in Australia ... The place is a bit pricey for a food place in The Philippines. Our bill came up to be about Php6,000 for 5 of us which is about AUD30.00 per person. Food was good though :)

Philippines Day 15 - Friday 28th August 2009

There is so much to update on, I dunno where to start.I believe this is day 15 of my Philippines trip. We got here in Manila on Monday arvo. It took almost 2 hours to get to where Donna and Paolo were staying and not because it was far, but because of the horrendous traffic and the fact that we had a stupid driver that didn't know where the hell he was going even when reading the map. Another pictureless post coz I keep forgetting my USB cable and I want to edit my photos before putting any up anyway so I'll probably do that sometime when I'm back in Sydney. I'd say it sucks not having a computer within reach hehe. Other than that, I'm relieved that we've finally got our Boracay trip all organised. I tell you, it wasn't easy. So if you wanna plan a trip to Boracay, consider doing it through an agency. Wait, that's what people usually do ... Last time we were here 2 years ago, we stayed at Whitehouse resort in station 1 and everything was a breeze to organise. I dunno, maybe because I think some hotels are just harder to deal with. You have no idea how much we had to go through to get it all organised. Some services here seems so tedious and so inconvenient I'm sad to say. I booked directly with Boracay Regency and we opted to pay cash. Usually, paying cash meant you pay the full amount in CASH when you get there. Well that's what I would've expected. Instead, this girl named Stephanie who we were dealing with from Boracay Regency failed to inform us that we would need to directly deposit the FULL amount into some bank here in Manila and then fax them through the deposit slip along with the form that they email you. We asked if it were more easier if we paid by credit, and they said we would need to photocopy both our passports and credit card and fax them through to them. And then when we tried to fax it, their lines were busy, had to call them back in Boracay and ask for a new fax number, Stephanie suggested we scan the documents through and then email them. BIG FRIKKIN SIGH. It may not sound like a hassle. But we didn't have a computer or fax machine we could just simply use, we had to run around different places and around mall of asia finding a place that actually had a photocopier and a fax machine that faxed outside of metro Manila proved to be quiet a hassle. Plus having to wait for slow service. It took us from 10am up until 3pm to get everything sorted out. We were so hungry, we hadn't eaten for the day and we were so ready to cry and cancel everything but we had bought our plane tickets already. Just booking accomodation was a bitch. I'm currently at an internet cafe in one of the Greenbelts in Makati killing time so I can blog a bit about my trip. We have just finished eating brunch at this seafood restaurant called 'Fish out of the Water' in Greenbelt 5. We ate there last night with friends and I ordered a mudcrab that was just so good and only cost around AUD37.00. We came back there again today for their seafood buffet for around php500 per person. I made the most out of it. I think I've fulfilled my satisfaction for mudcrabs for now. Surprisingly I've bought a few bits and odds here. I bought this blouse at this clothing store called Topshop. They have a few branches scattered around the shopping centres in Manila. It instantly caught my eye and I didn't stop thinking about it for like 2 days so I knew I had to have it. It cost php2795.00 which equates to about AUD70.00. I wouldn't usually pay this much just for a top even in Australia, but the detailing on it is just unique in my opinion and I haven't seen a top like it in Australia before. They have quite a few nice pieces in Topshop and I'm glad they do shipping to Australia. I also found my perfume here - Parfum de rosine in Rustan's. I was just ecstatic to find the 100mL of the rose de rosine for less than the price of the 50mL I usually pay back in Sydney. For the 50mL it costs AUD150.00 and I only paid AUD130.00 for the 100mL! On the Parfum de rosine website, they cost 98 francs (I think?) which is about AUD170.00 for the 100mL so it's still cheaper to buy it here. NARS cosmetics is also a whole lot cheaper here. I'd say probably almost 50% cheaper. I bought a matte black eyeshadow to put over my eyeliner and the St barts multiple for under AUD60.00. Back in Sydney, they cost 98 bucks! Such a rip off. Donna's just messaged me to head on over to yet another shopping centre called Selendra (I think) so I'm gonna save it for now.

Philippines Day 3 - Sunday August 16th 2009

I am currently using the hotel's internet sipping on some fancy looking long island ice tea Jun asked the bartender to make for me. This is going to be a picture-less post since I left my usb transfer cable upstairs in the room. Earlier, we went to Concepcion which is a subarb known for growing organic fruit. I was looking forward to going there and I am so impressed and happy we went. The place is beautiful! Bountiful of mongosteens, lansones (my favourite fruit of all time!), durian, marang and many more. We bought freshly-picked fruit from the fruit orchards there. Two durians - which Jun and my cousins quickly consumed and loved it! For me, not so much. Two kilos of mongosteens and lansones for a mere php70.00 a kilo (under AUD2.00 a kilo). Back home, I pay AUD2.50 for just one! This was heaven for me hehe. And two kilos of rambutan. Everything cost just under AUD25.00! It is the freshest fruit I have ever had having picked it off its tree. We just got back from dinner at the chicken deli restaurant down the road. I gotta say, it is a total bitch to cross the roads here in The Philippines. There are no pedestrian crossings and drivers don't stop for you, you gotta pretty much dodge the traffic haha. We got here on Friday morning. Tired as hell. Didn't get any proper sleep on the plane. We flew Philippine Airlines stopping by Melbourne for almost 2 hours and then continuing our flight to Manila. We arrived in Manila around 6.30am and our flight to Bacolod wasn't until 9am. We were exhausted when we got to Bacolod, but still managed to got to my cousin's place and have a crustacean lunch. Mud crabs galore! The past 3 days that we've spent here were pretty much spent on eating .. and eating and more eating! We watched G.I Joe at the SM movies yesterday for Php100.00 each (no more than AUD3.00!) You can also watch the movie again and again even after it finishes, as long as you stay inside the movie haha. It's great. Organising my mum's birthday this coming weekend has been a breeze. Everyone has been co-operative and making everything possible in getting it together for us. Her actual birthday is this Wednesday and we'replanning to go to Pala-pala a seafood hall in Bacolod. I cannot wait! I'm getting sleepy so I won't bore you any further. We wake up at 7am (philippine time) to take advantage of the free buffet breakfast hehe. xo

~~Arrghh I am trying to purchase my IMATS tickets on the makeup4you website and it's coming up with some error page. I'm due off to fly in just 3 days and I haven't ordered it!~~ YES!! I've placed my order for the 2 day pass for IMATS on the 12th and the 13th of September. It'll be on the weekend after I come back from my trip. All up cost AUD65.00 for 2 days. It's AUD55.00 for the 2 day pass and AUD10.00 for shipping booo. I'm expecting it to be in my mailbox when I come back! I was thinking whether to buy some duty free when I get to the airport but they're so strict with anything you bring with you on the plane that I think I'll just save it for when I come back. Jun and I went to a friend's son's christening yesterday (Sunday) which was all the way out in the west. We missed out on the actual ceremony because we had to drop by Jun's place to pick up his stuff to add to his luggage. I enjoy going to Filipino events because I don't have family or relatives in Australia and it's the only time I can eat yummy Filipino food haha. It was good. They had lechon, karaoke, family members singing. It felt as though we were already in The Philippines :) Not to worry, 4 more days and I can eat as much Filipino food as I want! The performance The Revibe guys did for the family and guests. I have known these guys for almost 10 years now and they're like 'kuyas' to me :) Jun recorded this video and I just noticed you can see my hair in the way haha.

I think I am done with trousers for now since quiet a few of my clothing hauls have consisted of dresses lately. The chika booti (AUD9.95) and Bardot(AUD29.95) dresses are both above the knee/long sleeve dresses and fit snug. Ladakh dress I saw on the AUD13.00 rack but had a price tag of AUD40.00, when I took it up to the counter, the SA said they weren't supposed to be on that rack but since there were 3 of them there, I got it for AUD13.00! Woot!! The Les Saisons maxi dress I bought for AUD10.00! It's a size 10 but it fits me fine.

Here is my outfit for the christening wearing my 10 buck maxi dress! I love it. I wore it with my Mollini strappy sandals and my green Kookai cardi and a brown belt over making it look like one whole dress. This dress is great because it covers my lumps and bumps lol.

So for anyone that is interested, I am off to The Philippines this Thursday night (13th August) for about 3 weeks and a bit (I keep telling people Wednesday by mistake!) We're going to be celebrating my mum's 65th birthday in my birth town. Haven't been back there or anywhere out of this country for a 2 good years so I'm looking forward to it. Jun will be tagging along for the ride. He suggested he go visit his family in Mindanao but unfortunately we're gonna have to save it for another time. After spending just under 2 weeks in my hometown of Bacolod, Jun and I will be off to Manila to meet up with Donna and Paolo. It'll be Donna's birthday on the day that we arrive there so we're planning to celebrate it someway haha. Then around the 27th, we're planning to go to Boracay for a few nights. Looking at 3 or 4 nights. I've been trying to get it organised before I fly off so we don't have to worry about it when we're in The Philippines as I have to get my mum's birthday organised when I am there. I have enquired about accommodations in Boracay and I cannot go ahead with booking it unless everyone is happy with it. I know I tend to get a bit nazi when organising but if I'm not, I tend to forget about it and it never happens so I like to get it over and done with and cross it off my list! Ok enough rambling. I've also had trouble with my luggage and how much I am packing. I seriously think I have not packed that much but when I weigh it, it comes to over 20kgs which is the limit. I'm afraid I'm going to go over at the airport. I even had to pack a few of my things in Jun's luggage since I don't have room in mine. (you may be wondering what the hell I have packed!) I do know my luggage itself weighs quiet a bit because it's cased with plastic which adds to its' weight. We'll see. I have a few things I want to do when I'm The Phils which includes going to the fruit orchard in my town where you can pick your own fruit. How sweet will that be?! I'm excited. I bought my own snorkel set coz I really wanna go snorkelling in Boracay. Didn't think of doing that last time Jun and I went and I wasn't keen on hiring the equipment so hope it goes well this time round. ANND my mum has finished making my swimsuit! I still have to sew on the buttons for decorations. I dunno why I chose yellow for the belt, Now it looks like my old highschool uniform colors haha. I think it's very 1960s where they wore the full bodied suits and I love it! Jun's been making fun of it calling it my wonderwoman outfit lol.

Update on my hair

I regret to say that I went and had a haircut today after over a year and again I am disappointed. I am convinced that I dread going to the hairdressers. Even bringing in countless photos of the hairstyle I wanted didn't help this poor Asian hairdresser who could hardly speak English and in my opinion did a rush job. 30 mins for a shampoo and cut for AUD66.00? I'm just bad luck when it comes to finding good hairdressers that actually know how to cut my hair.

It looks like the same as this haircut I did around 2 years ago. I asked for Beyonce's hair, not Gogo Yubara

When she was cutting my hair, I thought that if I styled it, I could make it look like Beyonce's hairstyle, but found she cut my fringe too short that it can't be done. /BIG SIGH. Is it too much to ask to have Beyonce's hair? I guess so. I should've known .. she had horrible orange hair. Ok I'll stop. I don't want to go back to her to get it fixed - afraid of getting it done much worse. Lucky I only asked for 2 inches off. Though, the main focus was the fringe. What a waste of 66 bucks. Also as the hairdresser was straightening my hair, I noticed the ugly regrowth showing after I dyed it about 2 and a half months ago. I'm contemplating whether to color it back to black before my trip or when I get home or even during my trip. We'll see :)

Had dinner with D this evening at Malabar. We chose it over Rengaya since I think we've had enough of Jap BBQ for now.

I've been to this place a few times over a few years now. The food portions aren't big but you can't have too much of their dishes as it's quiet heavy, lots and lots of creamy coconut sauce. My favourite dishes would be not so much the mains, but the Dosai and the paratha (not pictured). The kulfi ice-cream is a must-try. It's full of pistachio nuts (and I'm a pistachio fan) so this was great. Also comes in mango flavour.

As I was cleaning out my drawer, I found this chat-looking stocking in my bedside drawers from almost 6 years ago and remembered making Jun decorate Christmas stockings for each other and was supposed to make it a tradition every year, but I guess that's been forgotten. Just wanted to share and remind myself how lame we were (more like me hehe).

I want to wish Sylvia a Happy birthday for last weekend. It's not actually until the 12th of August, but she had it early since a few people could not make the following week including me since I'll be overseas. We went to have pizza with a few of her friends at Milson's Point at this gourmet pizza kitchen called 'The Pizza Place' (original huh?) it happened to be one of my ex-classmate's fiance's place.

Donna and I had been wondering why the flights from Manila to Caticlan (Boracay) had disappeared off Zestair's website for booking and after reading this article, I found out there was an accident on June 25th. I hope they bring the airport back up by the time we go in just a few weeks. "A Zest Air Xian MA-60, registration RP-C8892 performing flight Z2-863 from Manila to Caticlan (Philippines) with 55 passengers and 4 crew, overran runway 24 while landing at Caticlan's airport at 7:55am local (Jun 24th 23:55Z). The airplane stopped with all gear on soft ground close to a road embankment, no injuries occured. The damage to the aircraft is unclear. At the time of the accident runway 06 was active due to wind, however the crew requested to land on runway 24 and reportedly landed long (about half way down the 950 meter/3100 feet long runway) and fast. The airport had to be closed for about 10 hours, cancelling 32 flights into Caticlan. Another Zest Air Xian MA-60 RP-C8893 had an accident while landing on Caticlan's runway 06 earlier this year, see Accident: Zest Air MA60 at Caticlan on Jan 11th 2009, undershot runway, injuries. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines decided as result of the accident, that runway 06 only is to be used for landings and runway 24 only for takeoffs due to the terrain in the extended centerline of runway 24. The decision also technically shortened the distance available for landings on the runway.Cebu Pacific, another airline operating to Caticlan, therefore decided to divert all their flights from Caticlan to Kalibo and bus passengers to Caticlan from Kalibo free of charge. Other airlines continue to operate into Caticlan. The Philippines Civil Aviation Authority is working with the airport and the airlines to find a resolution of the issues. No Metars are available for Caticlan [RPVE]." [SOURCE http://avherald.com] I am not looking forward to flying to Kalibo and taking a 90 minute drive to the seaport from there. I wanna get there ASAP! I'm not sure if it's the Caticlan airport that's closed for now, or just the carrier itself. At the moment, it looks as though it is only the carrier that is unable to take flights to Caticlan as Seair seems to be still taking flights to there, but at a cost of three times as much as Zestair! Zestair was only charging around AUD80.oo per person as opposed to almost AUD200.00 per person. Sigh. Last time Jun and I went two years ago, we paid AUD180.00 per person flying Asian Spirit (now known as Zestair). /fingerscrossed.

Hair removal sponge?

I was watching XiaXue's video on YT on 'weird stuff' and she was showing this 'hair removal sponge called 'Kenassy'. After she showed it 'magically' removing the hairs off her knuckles, I thought I just had to try it! Haha I cannot help being suckered into things like that. Heck, looking at blog hauls just make me itch to go buy stuff :(

So I just remembered I saw something similar and thought it was THE same product that I saw at the Miracle Asian supermarket in Westfield so I went there and got this: ... thinking it was the same one. I was wrong. Though they are both made from the same company. I hopped onto sasa and found that they stocked it there. Haven't placed an order just yet because I'm waiting for a few other products that are currently out of stock that I'm after. If anyone else has tried it, lemme know if it works for you. I am unsure if it will work on removing coarser hair ie. on legs but maybe just fine baby hairs like on your knuckles and maybe arm hairs?

Birthday loooong post

Sometime last week after work, I wasn't so hungry so I wanted to have something light to eat for dinner. I went to the supermarket after work and picked up a few items totaling to an amount over 60 bucks!! It is becoming too expensive to eat these days. I have just noticed also that there is a self-serve lane in Coles where you scan your items, bag them and put your money in the tray for payment - pretty much what the employees are paid to do cept you're doing it for them. This is only good if you only have less than 5 small items coz if you had more and if they were large, I think it would be tedious to have to bag them yourself! So anyway, getting sidetracked, I picked up a slab of double brie cheese and wanted to try what GrabyourFork posted up from an event she had attended where they served baked brie cheese accompanied with some toasted bread post here. Brie cheese is probably my most favourite out of all the cheeses so this I had to try! If you reside in Sydney and would like to know the best places to eat, you should definately check out GrabyourFork if you haven't so already. She finds THE best places to eat! I have faith in Sydney cuisine once again!

I didn't have any herbs so I placed a few thin slices of butter and sprinkled some almonds on top and left it in the oven to bake for about 10 minutes. Toasted a few slices of buttered bread and voila!

If you love cheese especially brie, this you must try! It tasted pretty good. Once you slice the brie open, all the cheese flows out. It didn't take long to consume haha. When brie cheese is not melted, it takes a while to eat it, but in liquid form you can easily eat it all so fast. So that is what I had for dinner :) It was my 25th today (July 26th). Didn't do anything exciting. Who gets excited about getting older

I had a brunch at Kohya - a Japanese restaurant in Neutral Bay where they specialise in Yakiniku. They are also run by the same people who own Suminoya and Rengaya in North Sydney. Unfortunately, I was looking forward to the all-you-can-eat yakiniku but they didn't have it available for lunch - only for dinner. I should've checked it doh!

I was about 15 minutes late after reminding everyone to be on time as this place gives time limits (luckily they didn't for this occasion) and I was going around saying hello to everyone and I didn't notice the outdoor heater and I accidently placed my hand on it thinking it was a table and now I am getting blisters on the tips of my fingers :( ouch. So before that, I wanted to make something small to give away to my friends who came. I couldn't think of anything but came up with two ideas. The first one was green tea cookies with white chocolate and macadamia but that turned out not so good. I love green tea. But in drinks. Cookies, not so much bleh. And I figured if I didn't like it - how do I expect others to like it haha. So I did make a few to try, even bought cookie cutters shaped as leaves to be creative, tried them and didn't like them too much.

The second idea was just to make individual mini chocolate cakes filled with chocolate filling and a thin piece of white chocolate on top but it didn't go exactly how I wanted. I did end up making individual chocolate cakes shaped as friands (only coz I wanted them to fit inside the cardboard takeaway boxes), I topped it off with icing sugar and chocolate frosting and added a handmade chocolate piece to it made by melting chocolate with my fondue kit :) I had fun! I would very much higly recommend Kohya for their food and service. We had one waiter who attentively took all our orders, cleaned up any spillage, refilled everything and took photos when we asked throughout the whole lunch. They even made paying the bill so convenient by splitting it up since we had about 8 tables and the whole of the outside 'gazebo' set up and reserved for us. The lady at the front counter had also been so helpful with corresponding with me. She even gave Lani's daughter E.M some bubbles to play with and changed the music for us outside so it was suitable for E.M :)

Thank you to all my friends that came on the day regardless of how cold it was! I got my very own cupcake cake from Ira and Icy :D I think it's coffee flavoured and is delicious! Now just trying to figure out how to eat this. I think I gotta call some friends over to help me. It's bigger than my head! haha

It did rain later in the afternoon after lunch, dropped off Sylvia and Christina home and finally made my way home to rest before going out for dinner withmy mum. Had a peking duck dinner at Chequers. yum!

My birthday haul I bought with Jun's CC hehe. This is how he gets me my presents every year- by handing me his card and I take it shopping with me. I don't go crazy on it ok! I usually have a list made with the things I want to buy and sometimes I add a few other things I really like that I see along the way. Here's my Sportsgirl and Bardo haul:

I love going into Sportsgirl every 2 weeks or so because it is when they have new stock in, that new stock then usually goes on sale a week or two later so that's why I stalk their online shop.

I dunno why I tend to buy more pants than tops these days. It might be because I haven't found any tops that I like. Again, more loose wearing pants that taper to the ankles. I prefer these to tighter fitting ones because I'm short with even shorter legs haha. Also these pants I don't need to alter because they're not long and they stop at the ankles. The only tight-fitting pants I bought are the black ones because I have been eyeing them since I saw them out. They're black, slim and stretchy. Can be work with heels, flats, with boots over. They have faux-back pockets which I like so it doesn't look bulky. The shoes I wanted to get ages ago when they first stocked them, but I couldn't justify to spending 50 bucks on them. Well, since it was my birthday and I wasn't paying for them, then I had to add it in the basket :) They're surprisingly very comfortable. I have small ankles and wearing these, gives it the illusion of a bigger feet hehe. May sound weird to wanting bigger feet, but have you seen someone with skinny ankles wearing big shoes? It looks almost duck-like. Only thing I don't like is the material, it can easily soak up water and get stained as well meaning I'd have to wash them. I was gonna buy the Sportsgirl brown hobo bag before, but luckily I waited and it went on sale from AUD49.95 down to AUD29.95. It's some fake suede type of material but what I like about is it's got heaps of space to fit my stuff in, has two different length handles that can be removed and switched around to form different styles. If only it was real leather. Popped into Bardot to have a look at their sales and walked out with a few good buys. The black tie up ankle boots I had to get. Original price was AUD139.95, down to AUD99.95 then down to AUD69.95 and a further 30% off bringing the price down to AUD48.00! The only had two left and both in size 6. A tad big on me and I would've preferred a size 5, but I really liked them that I had to buy one. I would just need to wear a thicker sock. Other than that, they are super comfy! Can be worn with leggings, skinny pants and even a dress :) I wasn't intending to buy any cosmetics or skincare but after Donna bought the M.A.C honey salve, I wanted to try it. Saw it in the shop and liked how it was large enough to last me for a long time. I liked one of the perfumes also in 'Naked Honey'. They sell it in Oz for AUD48.00. My favourite perfume Parfum de Rosine is quiet pricey at AUD150.00 for a 50mL bottle. Too bad the M.A.C scent doesn't last all day on me.

Saturday night, had dinner out with Christina. We went to this new Japanese sushi train restaurant that opened in Mandarin centre called Sagunja. All plates were AUD2.50 and surprisingly it was very good. I'd say I like it better than Makoto, and not because it's a hell of a lot cheaper, but also the prompt service and how fresh the food was. They were constantly making different dishes right infront of you so you know it's all fresh. Good stuff. I know they're super cheap at the moment because they're just starting out, but soon enough they'll hike up their prices once they get popular so I'm going to make the most of it for now. Damage done:

When I saw one of the 'sushi-chefs' make the soft-shell crab roll for a customer, I just had to have one. It's only AUD6.00. It was very very filling. It had slices of avocado and had fish roe throughout it. I was happy indeed. And very lastly, I wanted to share the dress my mum finished sewing for me!

It is so beautiful and I love it! I picked out the style from a 1960's dress pattern and my mum made it perfectly. I will be wearing this for her birthday!

I told you I'd be back more often. Now you won't be able to get rid of me.

So yes I'm a lame-O and put 'ticks' and 'crosses' on the items that I really like or that I loathe. I've never done this type of post nor have I ever been tagged to do what I currently use :( but I'ma do it anyway coz I tagged myself!

I don't have different items that I love for each month, I usually just stick to products that works for me. Once I latch on I don't budge. So I hope you don't find that I drag on and on and on ...

I suck at reviews and I don't know how to write a good one if i knew how.

*** Please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and experiences using the following products. If it does wonders for me, doesn't mean it will do the same for everyone else and vice versa since we all have different types of skin etc ***

so here's what I gotta say about what I currently use ...

Loves:

Loreal Elvive leave-in night elixir: I won't say I love it, but I really like how convenient it is to use. I don't have the patience or the time to do a leave on conditioning treatment 2 times a week or even once but this stuff, you just pump out a few globs and slather it all over your hair before you go to bed, after a shower whenever you want. Smells divine like milk and honey and doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy.

Kose Super Cleansing Liquid:I bought this off Sasa a while back in October and it has taken me a good 9 months to finish. It has no english on the back except for the bold 'super cleansing liquid' on the front so I thought this was a face wash. Tried to lather it up with water in the sink but it didnt. Figured out you use it by pumping a few squirts on a cotton ball and you remove your make up that way. A waterless cleansing gel I would call it. I really like how I can use it to clean off most of my foundation and make up after a late night out when I'm too lazy to wash my face with water. I have one back up but after checking on sasa, looks like they don't have any of this stuff left in stock :( I knew I should've stocked up.

Biore triple action toner:Takes off oil and whatever left make up on my face after washing. It has cleared up a few blemishes. Leaves my skin matte and soft. I use this so often but it's bad because it contains alcohol and salicalyc acid. Salicylic acid works wonders for the areas where I have KP (arms and legs) but unfortunately not on my face, unless I have acne which i don't. I got my friend Ninums to use this to clear her acne and she said it works and has brought back her baby smooth skin so there's proof for you ya!

Eyeko mascara: I really do love everything about this mascara. It has been sitting in my pile a few months unopened amongst all the other mascaras but this I'd say wins hands down. I have straight Asian lashes, they are stubbon to curl so I usually apply this on immediately straight after curling and it holds it for dear life. I love the packaging. It's a soft tube so you can squeeze and maybe 'feel' to see how much content you have left in there. It has a tight screw lid that locks in the product and doesn't dry it out. The brush is shaped like a screw and is thin and gets in the corners of my lashes. It doesn't smudge because it dries up like little hair fibres that when you wash it off, it looks like you're pulling off your own lashes. Only thing I don't really like about it is it does start to clump after about 3 coats so I usually stick to 2. I have been complimented a few times from friends and colleagues about my lashes when I wear Eyeko mascara so it must be working! Though it holds a curl really well for me, I would love it more if it didn't make my lashes so stiff but I guess that's why it holds it well. Nivea lip care in pink grapefruit: I bought this from Priceline, the Chatswood branch is the only one I have found this at also. I'm so happy with it because it's the first ever lipbalm that I have finished. Infact, I'm 3/4 through the third one and have 2 more back ups. It's not sticky, it's moisturising and it smells great!

Renew rosehip oil: I don't use a moisturiser at night /GASP nor during the day O.O. I have tried quiet a handful but haven't found the ultimate face moisturiser YET. But I have been using Renew's rosehip oil for years since way back at the end of high school. Used it day and night when I got chicken pox to get rid of scars about 5 years ago. How I use this is, I put a drop on my forehead, my cheeks and than massage it through, sometimes I also put 2 drops on my hand and than massage it all over my neck. I don't put this on every single night but maybe 4-5x a week because for me, my face isn't as dry. I only put this on after I wash my face and before bed because obviously it's oily. BUT it all gets absorbed into my skin during sleep and when I wake up, it's no longer greasy. It leaves my skin soft, moist and hydrated. I don't even need to moisturise. I'm not sure how it will work for other skin types though. Mine seems to be normal these days. Not much oil, only around my nose I've noticed. I've given a sample of mine to Ninums to try out when she got back from her trip. She said that it broke her out at first - bringing up all the gunk (sorry Nina for calling it that lol) and shit (lols sorry!!) out of her skin and than it cleared up after a few days. All these years of using it and I've never done my proper research on it. I just knew it had vitamin A & E and was considered 'natural' and 'organic'. Didn't know it could help to 'purify' or 'detox' your skin as it somehow did for my friend. I am up to my 2nd bottle in just less than 6 months. Costs around AUD17.00 from a local vitamin store.

The Ugly:

Pearl Drops instant white ultra: This is what I get when I don't read the product info. After watching the ad on tv multiple times, I was convinced that this was a brush on teeth-whitener that you brush on whenever you wanted and it would eventually and gradually whiten teeth and you didn't have to leave it on but I was wrong. It's a 'paint on veneer' and it looks ridiculous. I don't have the pearliest of whites and putting this on just makes me look like I have cracked white marks on my teeth. Waste of my 20 bucks. (forgot to take a pic. Here's a link of what it looks like.)

L'oreal velvety toner re-nourish - I had high hopes for this toner even though I haven't heard or read anything about it. But I am looking for a toner with no alcohol since I use toner twice a day and too much alcohol on the skin is not too good. This does not have any alcohol listed in the ingredients, nor does it smell like it has any but it was just drying. It left my skin with that taught feeling even though it says it doesn't make your skin feel tight. I also noticed on the cotton ball that it doesn't pick up as much make up off my face compared to Biore's toner.

Neutrogena Ultrasheer SPF50+ - I used this all over my face for the very first time on Wednesday before going to work because I wanted to see if it became oily after a day of use. Yes I have tested it on a patch on my face before but I cleaned it straight after. My face especially my forehead was itching during work. Came home at the end of the day and while I was taking my make up off, I looked in the mirror and noticed my forehead had flared up as well as the sides of my face near my sideburns(lol). It was an allergic reaction and I'm pretty sure the Neutrogena sunscreen was the culprit because it was THE only product I added into my daily face make up and I don't put anything (foundation nor primer) on my skin during the day if I'm only going to work. It may be a minor allergic reaction, but it's an allergic reaction nonetheless and this isn't what sunscreen is supposed to do to your face. I was going to try it again to see if it gives me the same reaction, but my skin is still inflamed. I've seen this on other people's blogs but unfortunately I didn't do so well with it. Sigh, this was supposed to be my daily face sunscreen I was going to use for my trip. The redness may not be as clearly obvious because of my s***** camera but it stings when I itch it and the area is slightly raised also.

NYX Contour & Highlight liquid: This was a total waste of money. Like I mentioned in my past haul post, it's one light colored liquid foundation and one dark liquid foundation that are cakey and go on streakey. I much prefer Eyeko's tinted liquid and cream in the pink box over these two. I can't find the products in my room at the moment because I forgot where I put them and I don't care if I've lost them. Pic is in this post here if you wanna see what they look like.

New camera

I went to the city last week Thursday afternoon to meet up with Fifi. It was the first time I had stepped foot in her new apartment in Town Hall. It was also the first time in months I took public transport and when I smelt a lingering scent of urine in the train, it reminded me why I hated commuting so much. I get annoyed at myself when I walk into a shop and walk out with a few items in my hand that I never intended to purchase. I can't help it HALP! So here's my itty-bitty haul from Hot Dollar haha. I can hear a few of my gfs sighing and shaking their heads at me. But how cute is this bag it was 4 bucks!

First time I've seen a strawberry scented Pears soap. Smells nice even though Fi thinks it's smells like medicine (she thinks everything smells like medicine).

Fifi introduced me to this small hidden Japanese grocery store just as you exit Woolworths (but on the side) and I managed to grab a few sweet snacks and this soap that looked intriguing to me. It's called NUKA soap scrub made from white rice bran.

It's made by an Australian company called Sun-Masumune . Funny thought coz when I checked their website, they stock sake. I only purchase the sample piece for AUD2.20. The full size is around AUD6.00. I haven't tried it yet but I will. I've been using L'oreal's Exfotonic with an exfoliating cloth in the shower for a while now and I like how it has 'beads' that help with exfoliating, than I use Lush's Almond & Coconut Smoothie (thanks to my lovely Sylvia) after to moisturise my skin than I just rinse it off. After I'm done with the Lush smoothie, I'm going to go back to my buffy body bar scrub.

Jun and I bought a new camera on the weekend. I did a tiny bit of research, but was looking for a camera that'll last me and won't break easily as I have dropped my Canon IXUS multiple times. We got the Olympus Tough 6000 that was on sale in Harvey Norman for AUD388.00 reduced from AUD499.00.

They have an upgraded version the Tough 8000 (AUD599), but it was only slightly better so we opted for the cheaper one. I chose this camera because firstly for it's durability and is considered one of the strongest cameras in terms of durability in the world. Other than that, it's shockproof, waterproof down to 3 meters deep in water, face detector, image stabilizer so it doesn't blur when I'm taking pictures of moving objects. The Tough 6000 is 10MP and the 8000 is 12MP. We got the one in the mustard color because it was the only one left in stock. It also comes in blue and white. It is a bit slow at snapping a photo because it adjusts itself to focus, other than that, this camera is definately much much better than my 3 years old Canon IXUS, which is still working fine. I am so looking forward to taking photos under water. That is one of my top to-do things on my list during my trip. I haven't tried the video options but will try it out in water. I've played with it a bit. it has this 'Beauty mode' that I love because it makes you look like you have clear skin, 'sparkly eyes' and 'dramatic eyes' haha. I like to call it inbuilt-photoshop. I bought a hard cover camera case for it even though everyone keeps stressing that it's durable and can withstand being dropped but I don't wanna risk that. Heck, Jun even added the extra 2 years warranty which I thought was unnecessary. The yellow bag at the bottom of the cherry photo is my new make up travel bag that I bought for AUD21.00! So cheap. It was at that price because no one wanted an ugly bright yellow bag, I convinced myself that atleast it'll be easy to spot that way I'll know it's mine. It has a band at the back which is made especially so that it is attached to the handle of the luggage. Just a few more weeks to go til I'm off!

Hi remember me?! Well I'm back after about two lazy weeks. I'm counting down the days until I go on my break. My computer broke down sometime last week so that added to my absence. The tower would switch on but the monitor wouldn't and I didn't have a spare monitor to test it with to see if the problem was with the monitor or the tower. But when I switched on the tower, there was a clicking sound coming from the front part that clicked every 2 secs and on top of that, the CD-rom tray wouldn't open all the way out, and when it did open, it came out an inch and would quickly go back inside. You have no idea how frustrating that was, I was so close to chucking the P.O.S over the balcony. I asked for some help from my buddies over at WoWvillle but no help. Found out from Jun's dad that it was the power supply that's busted and needed to be replaced.It's fixed FOR NOW, god knows how long it'll serve me until I really have to buy a new computer. So all I had for a week, was my crapola of a laptop that is super slow and can only handle one window browser opened at a time before it freezes :S I'm pretty much going to just post up photos that dated back about a good two weeks or more ago. I can't say I've been taking many photos, or atleast ones that are worthwhile to others haha. So whats been happening? Nothing exciting for me. I've noticed quiet a few of my friends are overseas but I'm not jealous because by the time they come back, it'll be my turn in just a matter of weeks! About 2 weeks ago was Fi's birthday, I didn't take many photos from the night cept maybe a few shots of the food, but she had it at this Japanese fusion restaurant in Surry Hills called Jazushi. Apparantely, they play live jazz at night. It's quiet a small place but has an outside seating at the back where we ate. There were outdoor heaters so we that kept us warm atleast. Pricey for the food in terms of quantity and I'm sure if you're hungry like me, you would agree that quantity does matter (anything tastes good when I'm hungry btw.) It's not a place I would go back to anytime soon, especially when we were charged with 'cakage' that we were not informed of, nor does it state anything on their menu. You see, Fi brought in individual cupcakes from Cupcakes on Pitt in individual paper bags that she handed out to everyone that came and after a few of us consumed our cupcakes, a waitress came up to us and informed us that we would be charged a buck each for eating our cupcakes. I mean, we had them out since the beginning of the night and no one came up to tell us that. Firstly, it was not on their menu and secondly, I would understand it if we had asked for it to be served on a platter from the restaurant and used their cutlery and plates to eat the cupcakes, than yeah, that would be reasonable. I am outraged! Ok whatever moving on ... Winnie and her beau has recently purchased their unit and Ira, Fi and I went over last week for her 'housewarming' even though it was only us three that were invited that night ... I am so jealous. As much as I love living with my mama, it also feels so cosy and comfortable having your very own place that you can decorate yourself. The building itself is quiet old but the unit has been nicely 'refurbished' (as some would say.) We brought over food and drinks and was planning to watch the movie 'Year One' but it wasn't on that evening so we opted to stay inside and drink, chat and curl each other's hair haha. Ok enough jibba-jabba, these are my hauls that I have accumulated over a month or so (I believe). I ordered from Non Pareil for the very first time after seeing that they had Red Cherry lashes. I was a disappointed upon noticing that they had charged my credit card twice for the same transaction and it took over 2 weeks to get the funds back into my account. That was quiet inconvenient for me because even if they hadn't received the funds into their account, I still could not use that money that wasn't supposed to be taken out of in the first place. I dunno bout you, but that did not make me happy. So anyway, after hearing so much hype about Red Cherry lashes, I wanted to give a few a try. I have only used one so far and they are too long in width, I haven't trimmed them yet. I also added the NYX liquid highlighter and contour that I was eager to try and after receiving them, I am so very disappointed. It's basically one very light foundation and one very dark foundation that are both cakey. I don't like it one bit.

Priceline had a Bourjois clearance sale and I picked up a few items. There weren't many left but I was happy that they brought out the nail polish in 'Rose Corset' that I have been searching for since this post. Not only do I have one, but three! I decided to pick up all three since they won't be bringing them out for a while and plus there were only 3 left and I really love the color ( see swatch following). You could say it's a peach-pink pastel color.

I bought 3 nail polishes in 'Rose Corset', 1 nail polish for french tips in white w/ a brush shaped especially for the tips of your nails (see picture above) It really does help with making that french tip curve :), I also nabbed the dark powder foundation in 'Sienne' - there were no testers but I figured that it was dark enough to be a matte contour powder - it comes on a tad orange and has a distinct smell of 'powdered roses' which I'm not too overly fond of, and I grabbed the last liquid concealer in one of them clicky pens. I got a GWP which is a silver make up bag with zip and includes a lip gloss inside.

Speaking of nail polishes, Lani and I decided to place an order with Head2Toe. I first enquired how much the shipping would for roughly 2 dozens of nail polish bottles and I was quoted a whopping US$48.00. As much as I really wanted to get my hands on the China Glaze OMG collection, there was no way I was going to pay that much for shipping. Lani was keen on ordering them with me so I went ahead since we were splitting the shipping costs. Still! It came to about AUD30.00 EACH for shipping not including the products!

They didn't take that long to arrive though and I was glad there was no breakage. All up cost us AUD166.30 for 2 dozens of nail polishes which makes it just under AUD7.00 for each nail polish, it's still alot cheaper to buy China Glaze nail polishes here which are AUD17.00 each!

As you can see, I bought them all on sale and I really like every piece of item I bought. Oh how I love mid year season sales :) Altogether, cost AUD175.00 but it would've cost alot LOT more if they were bought at full price. If only I was eligible for the Rudd dollars ...

The first pic is a pair of high-waisted pants I bought from Glue today fro AUD18.00 reduced from AUD90.00. Yep, it makes me look like I have a load in my bowels but they are super comfy. They are quiet wide but it has a tie up belt which keeps it together, I suppose that's the style of it. Don't mind my pot bulging belly, I bought all high waisted bottoms to cover up in that department.

A week ago, our high school from Tai, came down from Thailand. Technically, she recently came down from Thailand to study in Queensland and then came down to visit us for a few days in Sydney with her bf. She hasn't changed. She is still sweet as ever and still looks young from high school, lucky girl and she's 24 this year!

You know it's funny because when you're younger, you seem to wanna be older than you really are. But you know you're getting old when someone says you look younger than you look .. and you take it as a compliment. Sadly, that is how I feel now. Oh how I wish I was still 19 :(

Jun and I went to Shangr-la buffet since they are closing for renovations in a few days. I was supposed to have my birthday dinner here but they won't be open until sometime next month. I gotta say, I was disappointed in their lack of choices. I have heard and seen photos and reviews, both word of mouth and on websites that this places was THE place for buffets. I do know that they have cut out the lobster from the menu because they said by 8pm in the evening, it had all gone and people would complain considering they were paying AUD85.00 (on weekends) per head. They have reduced it to AUD63.00 but I don't think they have removed JUST the lobster out of their menu, but also the fresh sashimi that my friends have raved about. It was not available! Plus, I believe that when I called to make reservations and was told they were FULLY BOOKED until 8pm, that they lied just so that they wouldn't have so many people finishing off their food by the end of the evening. Jun and I arrived there a good 20 minutes early and noticed many many tables available. Sigh ...

The only thing I enjoyed was their fresh large prawns that didn't have much of the 'spine dirt' like other prawns do.

We were supposed to join Jun's high school friend for his birthday but when we met up with them, only a few of the guys and all the girls were at a pub at Pyrmont and the rest were at some other pub on George St. They were supposed to go bowling but they were so unorganised, 2 groups ended up at 2 different bowling venues, and when it comes to clubbing, they refuse to pay entrance sheesh! I dunno why they couldn't organise a guest list if that's what they were wanting to do. They're just guys I suppose haha. Jun and I ditched them and headed down to a local bar to drink and then went home early.

There's this babushka shop in the Harbourside that we went passed. Look at the many many dolls. So pretty :)

I'd also like to add that after a few weeks or so of using Eyeko's mascara, I'd say it is probably my favourite besides the Mirenesse. It is the only one that I have found to hold a curl in place for the whole day or even longer and my lashes are straight-as. I really like how it's a thin enough brush that can reach my corner lashes. The screw lid of the packaging is also very good as it helps seal in the moisture and prevents it from drying up. I even haven't gone out to buy a restock of Mirenesse since Eyeko's mascara has been doing the job. I have also received compliments (/blush) from co-workers and friends asking if my lashes are fake or what mascara I use. I am most certainly pleased.

Sorry I know it's a sloppy post but this was long due days before my computer broke down and plus it took me a while to resize and group the pictures together so I hope you enjoy them :)
